Echo™ 520 Acoustic Liquid Handler
Introducing the New Labcyte® Echo 520 Liquid Handling System

The NEW Labcyte® Echo® 520 liquid handler is designed specifically for the broader fluid needs of many medium throughput labs. The 520 system uses the same acoustic droplet ejection (ADE) technology as the award-winning 550 and 555 systems and provides the same outstanding precision and accuracy. The throughput of the Echo 520 more closely matches the needs of the medium throughput lab with transfer rates of 300,000 or fewer wells per 24-hour day. The Echo 520 liquid handler reports source well volume but does not provide data on DMSO hydration, DMSO being a fluid used less frequently by the medium throughput lab.
The Echo 520 is a liquid handler that is optimized to perform direct microplate-to-microplate transfers of solutions. The system can transfer any volume as low as 2.5 nL between 384- and 1536-well microplates, with any-well-to-any-well capability. It automatically measures the depth of fluid in each source well, providing the user with important information about the quantity and quality of samples in the source plates.

User-developed protocols:
- Transfer any source well to any destination well (see Cherry Pick software)
- Generate IC50 with direct dilution using variable number of drops (see Dose-Response software)
About the Echo Liquid Handling Systems
Echo liquid handling products from Labcyte enable the routine use of higher density, lower well-volume microwell plates and provide better, more precise and more accurate results while doing so. High-density assay plates can decrease the amount of assay reagent required for each test by a factor of up to 400. These products enable more efficient use of reagents in a wide variety of fundamental assays for high-throughput biology. The adoption of high-density plates in drug discovery will dramatically increase the number of assays that can be performed with a limited amount of each test compound. This will allow screening against the 2,000 to 4,000 new targets being discovered through genomics. Transfer fluids to as many as 640,000 wells per day with this unique, “touchless” technology.
